The pilot project was based on the ‘EMC Documentum eRoom’ software program developed by EMC Documentum, the respected world leader in electronic document flow. The results of the project include an expansion of the Client server on the basis of eRoom – a service whose advantages permanent BEFL Clients have already experienced. As implemented by BEFL, eRoom enables individuals to store project contents, communicate and share ideas, set tasks and manage results via the Internet within the context of a common project.

At present the service provides remote access to joint working groups via a web interface. This facility is used not only by BEFL and its clients, but also by third parties directly participating in joint projects. This means that the physical distance between participants is no longer a major issue.

BEFL is concerned to protect and maintain the confidentiality of information received and sent to its clients. For this reason, access to eRoom is carefully controlled, and has been implemented to ensure maximum data safety and protection from unauthorized access.

By the end of 2009 BEFL intends that all the company’s business processes will be managed through the EMC Documentum eRoom system. This will result in the automatization of 65 jobs.
